News 4ths lose in a close one A solid batting performance in reaching 170 was not quite enough for the boys who lost by 4 wickets. Although numerous batters got starts - Wayne Cox 37, Nick Sullivan 36, Josh Browning 35, John Lee 25 & B Furse 22, no-one went on with it to get the total over 200. 3rds continue unbeaten stretch A great win on Saturday against the team everyone loves to beat (the workers test team) has our boys sitting pretty at the top of the table. It wasnt an easy victory as 3rds were bowled out for 165 with quackers to the Besties and Reece Smith. Workers were 3 for 100 at one stage before Troy Pruess ripped through the Workers middle order taking 6 for 20. RESERVES move to second Reserve grade moved up to 2nd position and closing on leaders Marist Bros after a convincing win against Gbah Tavern. Our boys declared 9 down for 197 against Taverns 148 (Micka Harley 4 for 54) with Aaron Campbell 34, Tim Sommerville 30, Ben Scofield 21 and Fraser Benfield 18 not out amongst the runs. In the second dig Tavern were 4 for 63 with Micka Harley again in the wickets with 3 for 31. 1st grade CHASE 250 convincingly One of the best 1st Grade victories in recent years to win by 5 wickets and 12 overs to spare with a great chase led by skipper Bruce Jobson - 81. Paul Simes continued his great start to the season scoring 52 and Aaman Soni finished with a well compiled 39 coming undone by a great caught and bowled. Joel Parrey, Daniel Rowlands and Martin Tucker finished off the good start with 20 odd each. 1sts had another good win on Sunday in the 1 day comp 163 to 112 to also pick up a bonus point. Bruce topped off a great weekend with his donkey droppers picking up 5 for 12, ably assisted by Aaron Campbell with 3 for 23. Scott McClelland led the way with the bat with his highest 1st grade score of 38 although dropped 3 catches before taking an absolute screamer in the field.
Our technically correct English import Aaman.
